Don´t get lost in Oslo, get your map!

A quality map will improve your visit to Oslo, Norway, just as staying in a holiday apartment will. Oslo, with a population of about 587,000, is the capital and largest city of Norway. It also functions as the industrial, commercial, and transportation hub of the country. Harold III founded Oslo around 1050, while it became the nation's capital in 1299. After a huge fire in the early 1600s, the city was later rebuilt. In the late 1800s, Oslo became Norway's primary city, replacing Bergen.  

Although it is a relatively small city, Oslo has an amazingly high number of galleries and museums. You can visit the park anytime throughout the entire year. 

Next, you can use your map of Oslo to find and visit the Akershus Fortress. The medieval fortress's building began in 1299 during the reign of king Hakon V, and was completed during the 14^th century. Later, King Christian IV revamped the fortress, transforming it into the royal family's home, and a Renaissance castle. After the castle began decaying during the 1600s and 1700s, its restoration was begun in 1899. 

The National Gallery is another must-see attraction while in Oslo. In fact, it's Norway's biggest public collection of various artworks, including drawings, sculptures, and paintings. Some of the featured artists include Manet and and Munch. In this museum you can find both ancient and modern art, with Norwegian art being particularly featured.  

Finally, you can use your Oslo map to find and visit the Viking Ship Museum. This museum features various Viking artifacts discovered throughout Norway, including tools, textiles and household utensils. It also includes the top preserved Viking Ships that were constructed during the 800s.
