Oslo-A Fabulous Vacation Destination

Have you been thinking about possibly taking a vacation to a foreign country sometime in the not too distant future?  If so, I would highly recommend that you look into going to Oslo, Norway!  The reason I say this is because there is such a wide variety of fun and interesting things to see and do in Oslo.

Do you have a real passion for art?  If so, you will definitely want to be sure to check out the National Gallery while vacationing in Oslo.  At this particular museum, you will find many fine pieces of art done by such famous artists as Edvard Munch, Matisse, Van Gogh and Picasso, just to name a few.  Also, right near by the National Gallery is the University Museum.  Here you will find many unique and interesting items such as Viking artifacts as well as an excellent collection of religious art.  There are also several other fine museums that one can visit in Oslo. 

Also, while staying in Oslo, you will want to be sure to check out the Nobel Peace Center.  This place is where the Nobel Peace prize ceremonies are held, and it offers interactive media displays about all 96 of the Nobel Peace prize winners. 

Another place that you won't want to miss out on is the Vigeland Sculpture Park.  This park is extremely popular both with tourists and with the locals.  Not only is the park in and of itself quite beautiful, but there are also over 200 sculptures on display here that were created by Gustav Vigeland who was a famous Norwegian sculptor.  You will be sure to love these delightful sculptures!  Vigeland Sculpture Park is definitely a wonderful place to take the whole family, as people of all ages are sure to have a great time here.

Do you enjoy the performing arts? If so, you will definitely love the Norwegian National Opera that is located in Oslo.  Here will you see not only glorious operas, but this is the place to go to enjoy fantastic ballet performances as well! 

If you enjoy shopping, I would highly recommend that you take a visit to Aker Brygge while in Oslo. Here you will find a wide assortment of excellent stores, cafes and bars as well as a movie theatre.  Going to Aker Brygge is definitely a great way to spend an afternoon, as there is so much to see and do here! 

Another things that is great about Oslo is the nightlife.  Whether you like laid back, mellow jazz clubs or if fast paced dance clubs are more your thing, people of all ages are sure to find at least a few night time hot spots that meet their fancy here!  Oslo is definitely a great place to go if you are looking for a fun night out on the town either with your significant other or some friends. 

If you are wondering where to stay during your Oslo holiday, I would suggest that you look into getting a Hotel in Oslo.  The reason for this is that many of the hotels in this area offer excellent accommodations so that you will be sure to enjoy your stay there.  Because these Oslo hotels tend to be quite popular, it would definitely be in your best interest to book your hotel room in advance.  That way, you can ensure that you will have a great hotel room waiting for you just as soon as you arrive in Oslo.

Vacationing in Olso, Norway

When you are interested in getting to know a city, few are as friendly and as welcoming as Oslo! Oslo is a beautiful city to visit and if you are interested in getting to know the city a little better, there are some sites that you are absolutely going to have to visit! There are many fascinating spots, and checking out the ones below will get you started. Plan your trip to Oslo so you will get the results you are interested in.

In the first place, remember that Oslo is an ancient city. It has a deep historical tradition and a great deal of it has been very well preserved. For instance, take a look at Oslo's City Hall, which is located near the waterfront. It is open for public visitors and there is an amazing main hall that goes back to typical socialist themes. If you want to experience more of Oslo's art, consider the Emanuel Vigeland Museum. This museum has very limited hours and is only open on Sunday afternoons, but if you are a fan of this somewhat obscure artist, the trouble is worth it. The building serves as a mausoleum with the artist's ashes placed above the door and it is home to the impressive 800 square meter fresco, Vita, which shows the human life from conception to death. There are also other examples of the artist's work on display.

Remember that Oslo is an impressive place to do some shopping as well. When you want to shop for souvenirs, consider heading to Glasmagasinet, where you can find just about anything you are looking for. Oslo City is a shopping center that is centered on young people and the newest buy anything store is Byporten, where you can pick up designer clothing, travel gear and much more. There are plenty of shops in Oslo, and it is not hard to find anything you might want.
